昨日に引き続き目を引いたエントリの和訳をしてみる。
タイトルに知っている単語が入っている以上、それを取り巻いている環境もさわり位は知っているわけで、全く知らないジャンルの英文に比べて意味を取りやすい。

Michael J. Ross writes "When it comes to creating a dynamic Web site with data store capabilities, the site developer can choose from many technologies, including PHP and MySQL. The combination of the two is rapidly emerging as a favorite, partly because they work well together, and partly because they are both available under open-source licenses. As a result, technical book publishers are cranking out a growing number of high-priced tomes that try to cover all of the details of either technology, or both. But for the developer just getting started in either one, there is a new title that could prove more accessible: Vikram Vaswani's How to Do Everything with PHP and MySQL, published by McGraw-Hill/Osborne." 「How to Do Everything with PHP and MySQL」(書名)

ミシェル・J・ロス曰く「データベースを使った動的なWebサイトを作るとき、そのサイト開発者は、PHPとMySQLを含む様々なテクノロジーを選択する事ができる。PHPとMySQLのコンビは凄い勢いで「お気に入り技術」に躍り出た。１つの理由は互いにいい感じで協調しする事、また他の理由は、共にオープンソースライセンスの元にある事だ。
その結果、技術書出版社は高価で分厚い本(PHPかMySQLの片方か両方の詳細の全てをカバーしたような)の出版数を伸ばしている。
しかし、どちらかの技術を試してみたい開発者の為に、よりとっつきやすい新しいタイトルがある。
